Benton Galgay is something of a DJ's DJ. As an avid crate-digger with an encyclopedic knowledge of nearly every genre alive, his sets are as educational as they are danceable. During his regular slots at spots like Grand Central, Purdy Lounge, and the newly opened Chalk, he sticks strictly to vinyl for his musical explorations. You might hear punk funk, forgotten disco, vintage electro, B-side soul, or any number of other obscurities.

DJ Benton, AKA Benton Galgay, has an insane encyclopedic knowledge of music that comes only when someone is whole-heartedly devoted to worshipping the cult of vinyl. He's spun everywhere, from Electric Pickle to Grand Central to Bardot, but currently calls Friday nights at Gramps home. From Kraftwerk to Talking Heads to the latest DFA release, Benton's mixture of the old and new always seems to be a crowd pleaser.

The innumerable warehouse parties in his past prove it, and it is, in fact, on the outlaw side of nightlife where Galgay gets most traction. (Check, for example, last New Year's Eve's U-Haul throwdown deep in the heart of the Grove.) But he still works well within the aboveground venue framework.
